The Death Slam Invitational NA #3 main bracket is locked. Eight teams head into next weekend's Bracket, a double elimination finals with $10,000 on the line. This takes place after a 54-team open qualifier whittled the field down to four survivors from this past weekend.
The Matchups
The bracket opens with Floormen as the No. 1 seed against Chubby Bunnies, while FPS Lounge draws Lowkey W in the other upper-side Round 1 match. On the bottom half, Melee Creeps meets bwc (Bird with Clock), and Abrahams takes on Leviathan.
The four invited teams are Floormen, Melee Creeps, Abrahams, and FPS Lounge. They enter as top seeds, but the qualifier teams earned their spots the hard way. Lowkey W finished the open qualifier at 5-0, the only undefeated team in the field. Leviathan, bwc, and Chubby Bunnies also survived the weekend's double elimination gauntlet to punch their tickets to the money stage.
That sets up an immediate collision between the invited teams and qualifier teams in a full best of three for each game.
Round 1 to Watch
The most compelling opening match might be FPS Lounge vs. Lowkey W. Lowkey W looked like the strongest qualifier team by record, and FPS Lounge gets first crack at slowing that momentum. Abrahams vs. Leviathan is the other strong early draw, Leviathan posted a 6-1 qualifier run and now faces a direct invite right out of the gate. Abrahams has been in better form recently having beat Leviathan at R1 Tourney twice. Leviathan didn't play in last weeks' Deadlock Fight Night EU and admins for Night Shift said it was due to roster instability. It will be interesting to see what lineup Leviathan has. Another story angle will be ping, will the match be played on EU or NA servers? The entire tournament is NA, but will they allow two EU teams to play on an EU server.
What's Next
The double elimination bracket runs May 23–24. Upper bracket winners stay on the comfortable side; losers drop down with no margin for error. One team walks away with the Death Slam title.
